In the early hours of 7 December 2010, a garbage truck reversed into Ching Yee while she was on her scooter. She fractured her pelvis on both sides, broke several ribs and suffered other lesser but needless to say still painful injuries. Doctors advised recovery would involve at least six weeks in hospital lying on her back at an incline of no more than 30 degrees.
